Slipknot

Post by Chewie212 » 17 Aug 2019, 19:08

The new Slipknot album is fucking fantastic. If you like the genre, don't sleep on it. Even if you don't, it's worth checking out.

Just a PSA

Can you tell me what's the album title? I'm not familiar with the genre nor the band's discography.

Feel awful for the guy that died last week, but you do have to wonder what he was thinking.

Yeah

And for Clown, who lost his daughter just before the album came out and they went on tour.

Apparently Corey is in pain all the time on stage, too, but cares more about delivering for the fans. There's a great interview on RockFeed's YouTube

I've seen them twice. They're really good live. It's been close to a decade since I last saw them, though. The last show was an outdoor festival tour with Disturbed as co-headliners, and both were great.

They're coming to Toronto in a couple of days. I'm tempted to go, because I have been listening to them almost exclusively for the last couple of months, but am cheap. Tickets are quite pricey ($70 for lawns, $130 for a seat, then upwards) and I'm not really into the opening bands. Plus the $20-30 to get there.

I used to almost never miss a concert of one of my favourite bands, and have been to many...just not in years now.

Behemoth, Volbeat and Gojira are. I've never listened to any of them.

Volbeat sounds weird. Like 80s metal. I listened to a couple of songs last night, but have never truly listened to them is what I mean.

Someone on Slipknot's reddit page offered me a ticket for $30 on the lawns. It's almost too good to be true, since they're now up to $80 ($12 overnight). But I guess if he doesn't show tomorrow or it doesn't scan as a legitimate ticket, I won't lose any money and can just buy one on my phone.

I am not a "screamo" song type of person, but I do enjoy some when working out/pre-game songs. I didn't mind slipknot back years ago.

That's fair. But it's not screamo, friend.

They're metal, or if you must, nu-metal.

I saw them last night and they were really good. I hadn't seen them since 2008, with Disturbed, but I think this was my fourth show. I believe I saw them twice in 2005, but can only find the ticket for my first show.

I saw Stone Sour with koRn.

Volbeat were excellent. Much better than Behemoth, and better than Gojira. Some fans weren't happy they were on the bill though, because they weren't hard enough. They had the best sound too.

Glad you had fun

Mayhem Fest? I was there too. Not into metal these days, but considered going yesterday for the fuck of it.

Yeah, that was it. Thanks.

I actually looked it up last night when I got home. I tried to find all of my Slipknot ticket stubs, but that one is unfortunately missing. I still have the ticket from my first show in 05, and the one from seeing Stone Sour at Family Values with two of my other favourite bands, korn and Deftones. But I have a feeling I saw them twice in 2005, during two different legs of the Subliminal Verses tour. First at Arrow Hall in the middle of the winter, and then at the ACC.

Thanks. I did. I went alone on a close to spur of the moment decision. I used to go to tons of concerts, but stopped when my depression got bad and I became a homebody who looked after his mom and did little else.

This was my first concert since 2013.

Slipknot were good, but their sound was somewhat disappointing. Corey was difficult to hear at times, over all of the other instruments. He also slurs words more than he used to. But they put on a hell of a show.

Im a fan of this band since selftited album. WANYK sounds really good ,much better than .5 The Grey Chapter. I can hear that band leave more space for V-man,there are good powerfull and melodic songs but i really dont like those short tracks like "death because of you". Shame that SlipKnot will continue their tour in Europe without Gojira because this is my favourite band, for me one of the best metal band after 2000.

What do you guys think of this track, its one of my favorite on the new album and it's the most un slipknot song on the album.

Crazy year, in recent months we've got a new Slipknot album, new Korn, new Hellyeah is coming, heard new Rob Zombie and new FFDP is coming out also real soon. Lets not forget new Tool also, not like we waited an eternity for that one.

Good year for rock/metal this year

Spiders may well be my favourite song on the album. It's definitely the one I've listened to the most (maybe outside of the singles, which I listened to a lot before the album was released). Since I've downloaded the album though, for sure.

I like Slipknot's softer songs, like Gehenna, Dead Memories, Killpop.

koRn's new album is great, too. Both are fantastic. They are/were my favourite band since high school or before.

I didn't know that 5FDP has a new album coming out. I found out recently that I met the guitarist's sister this past winter, when I took a mental health course.
